Maine Academy of Family Physicians (MAFP)

The Maine Academy of Family Physicians (MAFP) was established in 1951. It is the largest specialty physicians’ organization in Maine, representing more than 700 family physicians, family medicine residents, and medical students. MAFP has established three priorities: Advocacy-  for family medicine in Maine, their patients, and citizens. Communication- promoting enhanced communication to and among physician members and primary care physicians across Maine. Education -  providing clinical (CME) and policy information to family physicians across Maine. MAFP also supports statewide initiatives such as Tar Wars, a tobacco education program for elementary school children and the implementation of the Patient Centered Medical Home in medical training and practice.
