Improving Health Outcomes for Children (IHOC)

Quality Counts on behalf of the Improving Outcomes for Children Program and MaineCare is introducing the "First STEPS (Strengthening Together Early Preventative Services) Learning Initiative" a comprehensive effort to provide outreach, education, and quality improvement support to primary care physicians to improve rates of Early, Periodic, Screening, Diagnosis, and Treatment (EPSDT) services. The Initiative runs for two years and is divided into three phases that will each last for 6-8 months, using the Institute for Healthcare Improvements Break Through Series to as their change methodology. IHOC will work with 10-20 pediatric and family medicine practices to improve immunization, well visit, and screening rates.
