Maine Pressure Ulcer Prevention Collaborative

The Maine Pressure Ulcer Prevention Collaborative, with funding from the A4Q initiative, is launching an initiative to eliminate the incidence of pressure ulcers for institutionalized patients. They are replicating and expanding the Veterans Health Administrations Virtual Network, which consists of structured instruction, coaching, and collaborative learning, by delivering evidenced-based patient-centered care. Maine Quality Forum, the Maine DHHS Division of Licensing and Regulatory Services, and the Organization of Maine Nurse Executives support the program. Nurse leadership and the involvement of bedside nurses are key strategies to changing standard of care for institutionalized patients.
