ME Regional Extension Center

HealthInfoNet also administers the Maine Regional Extension Center program that offers technical assistance, guidance and information on best practices to support and accelerate healthcare providers’ efforts to become “meaningful users” of electronic health records (EHRs) and health information technology in general. HealthInfoNet, Maine’s statewide designated HIE organization, was awarded $6 million in April 2010 to serve 1,000 priority primary care providers across the state. The HealthInfoNet Regional Extension Center (REC) provides assistance, defined as education, outreach, and technical assistance, to help providers in their geographical service areas select, successfully implement, meaningfully use certified EHR technology, and connect to the statewide HIE to improve the quality and value of healthcare.
